Hey Clarice! I’m a complete stranger but I just want to you to know that I am also a recovering from injury dancer. Back in late March I got a stress fracture and was on crutches for a little under 5 weeks. Oh. My. GOD. I went from running 4x a week and lifting on off days to laying on my bed, having to sit out of my dance team’s spring showcase (and it’s my last year since I’m graduating) and doing a lot of thinking. I realized I placed an extraordinary amount of personal value on my abilities to dance and be active. When that was taken away from me because of crutches, I felt lost, sad, and super unmotivated. I really wish I had found your blog earlier while I was healing during the low days. I wish you the best in your recovery. As of now, I’m not going to run or dance until June, so I can’t wait until then! Also, I’m going to be working in the Bay Area and I’m for sure planning on attending auditions for the Warrior Girls dance team, so perhaps we will meet? Anyways, I just wanted to send you some encouragement since you are very much NOT alone, and you also have tons of value outside of your physical accomplishments. That was something I appreciated hearing from my loved ones while I was recovering. Much love and have a great weekend!

    Hi Clarice,

I just had ACL and meniscus surgery yesterday and loved reading your blog before surgery and have referred to it after as well. I also love to be active and move around and was so scared for this surgery. I am currently on day 2 and my nerve block wore off about 9am this morning – PAIN WAS INTENSE. I had to increase my pain meds! How long did that intense pain last? Seems like by day 3 you were feeling a little better? Also, did you have the patellar graft as well?

Thanks for sharing your experience, it really helped me and once I am able to move I am excited to follow your workouts!

    Marisa
